Hello, my name is Michelle.....(Hello, Michelle).....and Im a multi-tasker. - When I Grow Up

Hello, my name is Michelle.....(Hello, Michelle).....and Im a multi-tasker. - When I Grow Up Multi-taskers can be spotted by their lack of focus, their inability to sit still, their need to be as productive as possible, and by shaking and drooling when they spend more than a few minutes on any one task. OK, so theres no shaking or drooling, but there are a lot of headaches! Heres a short quiz to find out if youre a multi-tasker: 1. When youre taking a class via phone (aka nobody can see you or hear you), you (a) listen intently and take copious notes (b) surf the web/paint your nails/update your To Do list, all the while convincing yourself that doing these extra tasks during class help you stay focused and/or wont distract you 2. When youre on the subway, you: (a) read a book, listen to music, or eavesdrop (Overheard in NY always needs new material!) (b) listen to music and read a book at the same time (if you can eavesdrop on top of it, you need new headphones) 3. When youre at work, you: (a) complete a task from start or finish, not once allowing your You have new mail pop-up pull you away (b) start the task, check your email (that You have new mail pop-up is so alluring!), then confirm a meeting, then call a client, then respond to a personal email, then check your calendar, then check your colleagues calendar, then (finally!) finish the task You can probably guess at this point that Im a B. I do B things. I want to do A things. I think being an A will give me less stress and anxiety, as well as providing me with a sense of accomplishment, a better memory, and a higher probability that what Im learning will sink in. If youre a B too, and want to take on the challenge of becoming an A, leave a comment and join me!
